Milledgeville, GA: Your new touristy rape spot

Ben Rothlisberger, just the latest sports star to let us all down.

It’s certainly no surprise to see yet another sports figure charged with a crime. Especially from the NFL. According to Public Records, which may have missed some bodies dragging the lake, since the year 2000 the NFL averages 38 arrests a year for offenses more serious than a traffic violation.

Charles Barkley once said, "I'm not a role model... Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids." He’s also the same guy who awesomely told the police during his DUI stop last year that he was just going to drive around the corner and get a blowjob. I see no reason why Barkley shouldn’t be doing public service announcements for elementary school children. Though Barkley makes a valid point regarding role models, it’s just not the way things are. This is America. Here society worships sports figures and they seep into every pore of our being. Even if you don’t worship people who play games for a living, they’re still on your Gatorade bottle, cereal box, shoes and they supposedly drive the same type of car as you. I’ll call bullshit on any pro who says they drive a Dodge Intrepid. Given the above, you might try to watch your ass a little or at least try and maintain a little dignity and self-preservation...just for fun.

Ben Rothlisberger has been accused of sexual assault twice now. Once again, he will not be charged. Mayor Richard Bentley of Milledgeville, GA is stoked this alleged assault occur in his town. In fact, he said, "Anything that can draw interest to our town and make people want to visit, we would like,” adding, "If it piques people's interest about our city, we would certainly welcome them here.” Really? There may be a slight need to re-evaluate our societal love affair. I’m not so sure the people of Milledgeville might be too keen on marketing rape to boost tourism. If they are, maybe they can get a sponsorship from Nike.
